President Murmu Meets Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh, Debunks Pakistan’s False Claim from Operation Sindoor

Ambala: In a powerful message silencing Pakistan’s misinformation campaign, President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday met Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh — India’s first woman Rafale pilot — at the Ambala Airbase. The meeting came just days after Pakistani media falsely claimed that Singh’s aircraft was shot down and she was captured during Operation Sindoor.

The photograph of President Murmu standing beside Squadron Leader Singh served as a resounding rebuttal to Pakistan’s propaganda. During Operation Sindoor, multiple Pakistani outlets had circulated fake reports asserting that the Indian Air Force (IAF) lost several aircraft, including Singh’s Rafale jet, near Sialkot, and that she was taken as a prisoner of war.

The claims were swiftly dismissed by Indian officials, who maintained that the IAF had completed the operation successfully and that all personnel had returned safely. Addressing the media after the operation, Air Marshal Bharti, Director General of Air Operations (DGAO), stated, “The force achieved its goal, and every pilot is back home safely. Any suggestion otherwise is baseless.”

President Murmu’s visit to the Ambala Airbase, where she interacted with IAF officers including Squadron Leader Singh, was seen as a symbolic reaffirmation of India’s confidence in its defence forces and a celebration of women breaking barriers in the armed forces.
