Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved a financial bonus for state government employees for the fiscal year 2024-25, aiming to reward their dedication and enhance festive cheer ahead of Diwali.

According to the Finance Department directive issued under the CM’s instructions, the bonus will be calculated on a maximum monthly salary of Rs 7,000 for 30 days of attendance, resulting in Rs 6,908 per eligible employee. Employees under pay matrix level 8, with monthly salaries ranging from Rs 47,600 to Rs 1,51,100, will be entitled to this benefit. The scheme also covers staff from government-aided educational institutions and state-funded local bodies.

A total of Rs 1,022 crore has been earmarked to provide bonuses to approximately 14.82 lakh government employees across the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the decision reflects the government’s respect for the hard work of its employees and aims to bring festive joy to their families.

Officials have been directed to ensure that the bonus is disbursed preferably in the second week of October, just before the Diwali festival, to provide timely financial support to employees during the celebrations.

In addition to the bonus, the UP government is extending a special Diwali benefit to women beneficiaries under the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). Around 1.86 crore women will receive a free LPG cylinder refill, with the cost reimbursed directly to their bank accounts after initial payment, helping reduce household expenses during the festival season.
