New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his podcast debut with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, discussing various aspects of his political career, including the 2002 Gujarat elections and the Godhra riots. Modi revealed that just three days after being elected as an MLA for the first time on February 24, 2002, he received news of escalating tensions in Godhra. The tragic incident, involving the burning of trains, deeply troubled him and prompted an immediate visit to the affected area.

Despite logistical challenges, including the unavailability of helicopters, Modi insisted on traveling to Godhra using an ONGC single-engine chopper after convincing authorities. Recounting the experience, he described witnessing the aftermath, including the sight of dead bodies, as deeply painful. However, he emphasized his commitment to remaining composed and focused on his responsibilities as a leader during the crisis.

In the two-hour-long podcast, Modi also shared insights into his political journey. He reflected on the difference between becoming a politician and achieving success in politics, emphasizing dedication, commitment, and teamwork as essential qualities. He stated that a politician must prioritize people over personal ego, suggesting that true success lies in serving citizens effectively rather than merely winning elections.
