Mumbai: Maharashtra Minister and BJP leader Nitesh Rane has stirred controversy with his latest remarks targeting Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants, following an alleged altercation between migrants and local fishermen in a coastal village near Mumbai.

Speaking to the media, Rane said, “There was an incident a few days back where these Bangladeshi people had come and raised their hand on our local fishermen. We are very clear that we will not allow any Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslim to be on our soil and if they are going to do such a thing as raising their hand, we will ensure that they will get a punishment that they deserve and they will not dare to look at any Hindu again.”

The minister’s comments came days after local media reported an alleged scuffle near a fishing jetty in the Palghar district, where unidentified men, suspected to be illegal immigrants, were reportedly involved in a confrontation with fishermen. No formal complaint has been confirmed by law enforcement authorities so far, and investigations are ongoing.
