Indore: The high-profile honeymoon murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi has taken a fresh turn, as a new name has surfaced in the ongoing investigation — Jitendra Raghuvanshi. His sudden appearance in the financial trail has raised serious questions and added yet another layer to the already complex web of deceit, betrayal, and planning behind the brutal killing.
So far, Meghalaya Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the case — Raja’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, and three other suspected accomplices: Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi. All five were transported to Meghalaya on Wednesday and have been remanded to eight-day police custody.
But it’s the discovery of Jitendra Raghuvanshi’s bank account being used for an early payment to the hired killers on May 23 that has opened a new investigative front. Authorities are now exploring whether this was simply a case of account misuse or if a deeper financial conspiracy is at play.
Sonam’s brother, Govind Raghuvanshi, broke his silence on the matter and revealed to the media that Jitendra is a maternal cousin and also a junior employee in their family business. He clarified that the UPI account registered in Jitendra’s name was used by Sonam to make various business-related payments and denied any connection to illegal hawala transactions.
“Jitendra looks after loading and unloading work at our godown. The money in that account is ours and is used for daily business expenses,” Govind explained, while dismissing the emerging hawala angle as fabricated and misleading.
The revelation has nonetheless put the Raghuvanshi family’s financial operations under the scanner. Investigators are reportedly examining whether funds moved through Jitendra’s account were a front for more covert dealings or part of a deliberate attempt to obfuscate the money trail behind the murder plot.
