Mumbai: Western Railway produced a disciplined and dominant performance to defeat Central Railway 15-11 and emerge champions of the inaugural RBI Cup Professional Invitational Kho-Kho Tournament.
Western Railway laid the foundation for victory with a commanding 10-5 lead at half-time, which eventually proved decisive in the title clash.
The team’s biggest strength was its collective effort and consistency throughout the contest.
Vrushabh Wagh delivered outstanding defensive performances with timings of 2.30 and 2.50 minutes. Aditya Ganpule impressed with an excellent all-round display, contributing strong defensive efforts of 2 and 2.40 minutes along with four crucial dismissals.
Rahul Mandal, Mahesh Shinde, Vijay Shinde, Abhay Ratnakar, Amit Patil, Nikhil Sodiye and Mazhar Jamadar also made valuable contributions to ensure Western Railway’s memorable triumph.
For Central Railway, Ramji Kashyap, Dilip Khandvi, Shubham Thorat, Akash Togare, Saurabh Ghadge and Arnav Patankar fought hard and displayed strong resistance despite the defeat.
Western Railway’s Aditya Ganpule and Abhay Ratnakar were named the Best All-Rounder and Best Attacker of the tournament respectively, while Central Railway’s Shubham Thorat won the Best Defender award.
In the third-place match, Maharashtra Post defeated Rachana Notary Works 14-12 with four minutes remaining.
