MNS in no mood to forgive and forget
Mumbai: Although former All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA from Byculla, Adv Waris Pathan may have later in the day retracted on his controversial statement about 15 crore minority community proving more than a match to the 100 crore majority, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is in no mood to forgive and forget. The finger wagging MNS, pulled out an old video of party president Raj Thackeray in which the MNS president is seen warning MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and his ilk of street like response if they did not stop their antics.
The former MIM MLA in a statement to ANI, which the news agency tweeted, he argued “Waris Pathan is the last person who will speak against any religion or the country. My statement is being misconstrued and twisted. I am not apologizing. It is BJP which is trying to segregate Indians”.nThe controversy began with the ANI tweeting about Waris Pathan speech at an anti-CAA, anti-NRC rally. The former MIM MLA is clearly heard saying that let them (the majority) know that 15 crore can prove more than handful for the 100 crore majority.
MNS general secretary, Shalini Thackeray in a Facebook post slammed the MIM leader for what she called objectionable statement. “The remarks smack of rank arrogance and brazenness…. Raj Thackeray comments in his February 9 speech that to whom are these people trying to show their strength against, is now proving correct…MNS will not tolerate this kind of antics and knows pretty well how to shut up these kinds of motor-mouths”.
Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Dr Kirit Somaiya remarked that the MIM leader was speaking the language of 1947 Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Slamming the MIM leader stated that of late this kind of Jinnahwali Azadi, Chcheen ke lenge Azadi slogans have become the norm for these people. He further slammed the Congress, Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government for its politics of minority appeasement.
