Delhi: The Congress on Sunday intensified its campaign against alleged “vote chori” as Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced a large-scale mobilisation for the party’s protest rally in Delhi over the SIR issue.
Speaking about the campaign, Shivakumar said, “The vote chori drive has started from our state, from Freedom Park in the city. Tomorrow, a programme is going to take place at Ram Leela Maidan where thousands of people are going to take part. Our leaders from across the state are going there. More than 100 legislators are taking part in it. I am going to Delhi to attend a protest rally against ‘Vote Chori’ because I have to make arrangements for people who are going there to participate in the rally and stay in Delhi. We may have faced defeat, but we are confident about spreading awareness among people. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has organised the event, while AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge is leading the campaign. We are going there to support them.”
The Deputy CM said the campaign had formally begun from Freedom Park in Bengaluru, signalling Karnataka Congress’s active role in the nationwide protest. According to Shivakumar, the rally at Ramlila Maidan is expected to see participation from thousands of party workers, leaders, and legislators from different states.
