New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out a bold and transformative vision for India’s future during the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog, urging all levels of governance to align their goals with the national aspiration of becoming a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) well before the target year of 2047.

“We should focus on one goal, to make Bharat Viksit by 2047. We should have the aim of making each State Viksit, each city Viksit, each Nagar Palika Viksit and each village Viksit. If we work on these lines, we will not have to wait till 2047 to become Viksit Bharat,” said the Prime Minister, as he called for united efforts and localized action.

The meeting, attended by Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and senior officials, centered around cooperative federalism and development-focused governance. PM Modi emphasized that development cannot be top-down; it must be felt by citizens in their everyday lives. “We should work in a manner so that policies implemented bring change in the lives of common citizens. Only when people feel the change, it strengthens the change and transforms the change into a movement,” he noted.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the critical need for gender inclusivity in India’s economic journey. “We must work towards inclusion of women in our workforce. We must make laws, policies so that they can be respectfully integrated in the workforce,” he said, calling on the council to frame forward-looking legislation and employment strategies.

PM Modi expressed confidence that India stands at a historical juncture with a unique opportunity to fulfil the aspirations of its 140 crore citizens. He described the NITI Aayog platform as a team effort where both the Centre and States play crucial roles in shaping the nation’s destiny.
