Patna: In a significant political development ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), a key player in the opposition’s Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), has announced its third list featuring 15 candidates. The party aims to expand its grassroots influence, especially among the backward and marginalized communities, as it prepares for a tough electoral battle.
Announcing the list on Monday, VIP national spokesperson Dev Jyoti confirmed that party president Santosh Sahni will contest from Gaura Bauram constituency in Darbhanga district. Other prominent candidates include Naveen Kumar (Alamnagar), Ganesh Bharti Sada (Kusheshwarsthan), Umesh Sahni (Darbhanga Urban), and Bal Govind Bind, the Bihar state president, who will contest from Chainpur.
The full list also features Bhogendra Sahni (Aurai), Rakesh Kumar (Baruraj), Rankaushal Pratap Singh (Lauriya), Shashi Bhushan Singh (Sugauli), Varun Vijay (Kesaria), Harinarayan Pramanik (Sikti), Saurav Kumar Agrawal (Katihar), Arpana Kumari Mandal (Bihpur), Prem Sagar (Gopalpur), and Bindu Gulab Yadav (Babubarhi).
Speaking to reporters, Dev Jyoti emphasized that the party is contesting the elections “with full strength and commitment” and will play an instrumental role in helping the Mahagathbandhan form the next government in Bihar. “The people of Bihar are ready for change, and the public mood is clearly in favor of the opposition alliance,” he said.
This marks the third candidate list released by VIP. The first list had six names, including national president Santosh Sahni, while the second list featured five candidates, including state president Bal Govind Bind.
However, the party has also faced internal turbulence. In a recent setback, VIP state spokesperson Rajesh Sahni, Bittu Paswan, and former party chief Rajesh Prajapati joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday along with several supporters, pledging to strengthen the NDA and ensure its victory.
