Vijay initiates coalition discussions after TVK emerges as largest party in Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Mahabalipuram: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Chief Vijay expressed deep anguish over the tragic Karur stampede that claimed multiple lives and accused the ruling DMK government of indulging in “vicious politics” during a time of mourning. “We have endured immense pain and sorrow due to the loss of our family members. During this period of grief, we chose to remain silent, yet instead of allowing us to mourn, the ruling party indulged in vicious politics,” Vijay said.

The popular actor-turned-politician stated that he was compelled to respond to the “provocations made against us in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.” He criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s remarks from October 15, saying, “The Chief Minister, who often claims to avoid politics, displayed extreme hostility in his speech against us.”

Taking a direct jab at the DMK’s governance record, Vijay said, “Since 1969 and especially after 1972, they have become accustomed to avoiding accountability. The reality is that the people’s trust in the DMK government has been completely eroded. I hope the Chief Minister understands this; if not, the people will teach him a lesson in the 2026 elections.”
