Uttarakhand CM Dhami Directs Local Leaders to Stay on Ground, Oversee Relief After Chamoli Cloudburst

Dehradun: In the wake of the devastating cloudburst in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday reached out to public representatives of the affected region, seeking detailed updates on the scale of damage and ongoing rescue work.

Expressing deep grief over the loss and destruction, Dhami urged local leaders to extend full cooperation to the district administration and disaster response teams engaged in relief operations.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Dhami also spoke directly with the local MLA, instructing him to remain present at the site and personally monitor relief and rescue efforts. The Chief Minister emphasised that public representatives must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the affected people during this crisis.

The Chamoli disaster, triggered by Friday night’s cloudburst in Tharali tehsil, has caused severe destruction, sweeping away homes, blocking roads, and leaving several people dead or missing. Rescue teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, and district officials are continuing operations under challenging conditions of heavy rain and landslides.
