New Delhi: In a major crackdown on visa fraud, the United States Embassy in India has cancelled nearly 2,000 visa appointments that were allegedly booked using bots and fraudulent methods. The embassy emphasized that such practices violate its scheduling policies and warned that strict action would be taken against those attempting to exploit the system.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the US Embassy in India issued a strong statement: “Consular Team India identified bad actors who made about 2,000 visa appointments that violated our scheduling policies.”

The embassy further announced, “Effective immediately, we are cancelling these appointments and suspending the associated accounts’ scheduling privileges.”

Reaffirming its commitment to fair and transparent visa processing, the embassy assured that it would continue its anti-fraud efforts to prevent misuse. “We have zero tolerance for fraud,” it stated firmly.

The move comes amid rising concerns over visa appointment scams, where unauthorized agents and automated bots manipulate the system, making it harder for genuine applicants to secure slots. The US Consular Team’s swift action signals a strong stance against fraudulent practices, ensuring that the visa process remains fair and accessible to legitimate travelers.
