A US military transport aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster III, carrying 119 illegal Indian immigrants is scheduled to land at Amritsar International Airport on Saturday. Of the deportees, 67 are from Punjab, followed by 33 from Haryana, eight from Gujarat, three from Uttar Pradesh, two each from Rajasthan and Maharashtra, and one each from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, sources told PTI.

The deportation is part of the US crackdown on illegal immigrants after Donald Trump took office. This marks the second such flight this month. On February 5, a similar aircraft carrying 104 deported Indian nationals landed in Amritsar. Reports suggest a third deportation flight is expected to arrive on Sunday, February 16.

The latest deportations follow Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US, where he met President Trump to discuss bilateral issues, including immigration. During a joint press conference, PM Modi emphasized India’s commitment to repatriating verified Indian nationals while addressing concerns over human trafficking networks that exploit vulnerable migrants.
