Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday called upon the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to embrace Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of peace, prosperity, and swadeshi, and to actively contribute to the welfare of society.
Speaking at Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at SKICC, the Lieutenant Governor recalled Gandhiji’s words during the partition era: “He saw a ray of hope in this land and prayed that J&K would emerge as a shining star to show light to the country.”
LG Sinha said the younger generation must make Gandhian values the foundation of their lives. “Bapu’s J&K is one of peace and prosperity, and our youth have the responsibility to shape it with their energy and dedication,” he remarked.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to Gandhiji’s vision, Sinha said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, efforts are underway to realize the Mahatma’s dream of a “Viksit Bharat.” He stressed the importance of adopting swadeshi to ensure self-reliance and sustainable economic growth in the Union Territory.
“The J&K government has been promoting swadeshi by encouraging domestic industries. On this Gandhi Jayanti, I appeal to all to adopt swadeshi in our lives,” the LG said.
