Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya extended his warm Republic Day greetings to all Indians, including those living abroad, while addressing the public in Prayagraj on Monday.

Speaking about civic responsibility, Maurya highlighted the importance of contributing to the nation as responsible citizens. He announced that three local individuals had been awarded certificates of appreciation and cash rewards of ₹1 lakh each for their courageous actions in service to the community. “As patriots, we must all fulfil our duties. I urge everyone to actively participate in the ongoing campaign to purify the voter list,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister also offered his respects to Shankaracharya Ji, emphasising the spiritual and cultural importance of the revered leader. “Many devotees who hold Indian culture dear are eagerly awaiting the sacred ritual at the Sangam. I can only offer my prayers continuously,” Maurya said.

Maurya further criticised those he described as exploiting the situation for political gain. “Those who are shedding crocodile tears over Shankaracharya Ji are betraying the saints, the Hindu community, devotees of Lord Ram, and Indian culture itself. Their actions are politically motivated and disrespectful,” he asserted.

Through his address, the Deputy Chief Minister combined recognition of bravery, promotion of civic duty, and defence of cultural traditions, underlining his focus on public service, voter awareness, and respect for India’s heritage.
