Lucknow: With a harsh cold wave tightening its grip across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the closure of all schools up to Class 12 till January 1. The decision applies uniformly to institutions affiliated with all boards, including CBSE, ICSE and the UP Board, as temperatures continue to dip sharply across the state.

Reviewing the situation on Saturday, the Chief Minister said the well-being of children and vulnerable citizens remains the government’s highest priority. He issued clear instructions to district administrations and the education department to ensure immediate and strict implementation of the school closure order, warning that any laxity will attract action.

To tackle the impact of the extreme cold, CM Yogi directed senior officials to stay on the ground and continuously monitor conditions in their respective districts. He ordered local authorities to make adequate arrangements for blankets, bonfires and other relief measures at public places to protect people from the freezing weather.

Special focus has also been placed on night shelters. The Chief Minister instructed that no individual should be forced to sleep outdoors during the cold wave. All night shelters must remain operational and be equipped with proper bedding, blankets and basic hygiene facilities.
