Meerut: As part of the nationwide Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Dabathua and Jangeethi villages in Meerut district today, engaging directly with farmers to promote sustainable agriculture and technological innovations in the farming sector.

Addressing a large gathering of farmers, agricultural scientists, and local officials, Chouhan emphasized the central government’s commitment to strengthening agricultural technology, enhancing research, and expanding market access to empower India’s farming community.

“The government is working relentlessly to ensure self-reliance in agriculture through innovations like organic farming, soil health improvement, and crop diversification. Farmers are at the heart of our Viksit Bharat 2047 vision,” said Chouhan during his interaction.

Focus on Innovation and Sustainability

The minister outlined various innovative techniques including organic practices, soil health management, and water conservation methods aimed at increasing productivity while preserving environmental balance. Sessions at the event focused on modern irrigation techniques, sustainable crop planning, and climate-resilient farming practices.

Farmers actively participated in the discussion, sharing their on-ground challenges and successes. Agricultural scientists provided technical insights into improving soil fertility and adapting to changing weather patterns.

“Adopting new-age farming methods is no longer a choice but a necessity. We must encourage knowledge-sharing among farmers and scientific institutions,” Chouhan added.

Campaign Aligned with Modi’s 2047 Vision

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is a key pillar of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, with agriculture identified as a core growth engine. The campaign is being rolled out simultaneously across all Indian states, aiming to build awareness and capacity among farmers for sustainable and profitable farming.

Local officials hailed the event as an important step toward bridging the gap between agricultural research and rural implementation.

“This kind of engagement directly connects policy with practice. The presence of the Agriculture Minister has deeply motivated our farmers,” said a local agricultural officer in Meerut.
