Mumbai: In the battle of nerves, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray addressing the annual Dussehra Rally of the party at the Shivaji Park ground, Dadar on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Sena faction reiterating that he will keep calling them as a group of “traitors”.
It was for the first time in the history of Shiv Sena that the twin Dussehra rallies of both the party factions were being held due to the vertical split in the saffron party after the Eknath Shinde-led faction severed ties under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held a simultaneous rally of his Sena faction at not-so-far away MMRDA grounds in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Bandra East. Incidentally, the venue is not far away from Thackeray’s Matoshree residence in Bandra East.
Bowing before the huge crowd that had descended at the Shivaji Park Ground, where Shiv Sena has been holding its annual Dussehra rally since 1966 said that even though the ministerial berth will remain for a short period but the “stamp of betrayal” will remain forever.
Making an emotional connection with the party supporters and followers, Uddhav Thackeray said he felt sad that when he was in the hospital that time a conspiracy was hatched against him by those who were entrusted with the party’s responsibilities.
Calling Eknath Shinde “Kattappa”, a character from the blockbuster movie Bahubali, Uddhav said he wishes them good luck. ” Those who were given everything got upset and those who were not given anything are with him”, he said.
“Father was made minister, son the MP. They all want all the plum posts with them”, he added.
He reiterated that he allied with the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to form the government because the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stabbed a dagger in the back. Swearing by his late father and mother, Uddhav Thackeray said that Shiv Sena and BJP had reached an agreement on sharing the Chief Minister’s post for two and a half years each. ” If what happened today could have happened then as well. The greed was such that they had to finish Shiv Sena”, he alleged.
Uddhav further alleged that the Eknath Shinde-led outfit which calls themselves the Shiv Sena is after stealing the name of his late father, Shiv Sena chief late Balasaheb Thackeray.
Taking potshots at Eknath Shinde, Uddhav Thackeray said that it has been twenty years since Sena leader Anand Dighe passed away. But only now he is remembered.
Hitting out at BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, Uddhav said that he came to power by becoming the deputy chief minister.
Uddhav Thackeray also trained guns against the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak on the issue of spiralling inflation. Quoting former External Affairs Minister and Senior BJP leader, late Sushma Swaraj, he remarked that she had said that when the depreciation of the rupee happens it also presents an appalling picture of the country in the global scenario.
Referring to the Rashtriya SwayamSevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent visit to a mosque, Uddhav Thackeray said that the Muslims called him the father of the nation. “We too had demanded to make Mohan Bhagwat as the President of the country”, he said, adding that he does not want to learn Hindutva from the BJP, who made a big hue and cry when Sena allied with the Congress.
He urged Shiv Sainiks to defeat the Eknath Shinde-led party as well as the BJP in all the upcoming polls. “Support me, I will once again give you the Chief Minister of Shiv Sena”.
