Uddhav says hurt by Fadnavis remarks, BJP had hatred for Sena, used Sena when needed

Mumbai: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray poured his heart out on Tuesday evening, stating that he was hurt today when acting chief minister Devendra Fadnavis argued that nothing was decided (power sharing). Thackeray accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of harboring hate for the Sena and used the Sena when needed. He vowed never to side with those who lie and promised not to act with vengeance against anyone. Thackeray will take oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on December 1 at Shivaji Park, Dadar.

Addressing a joint gathering of Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party led Maha Vikas Aghadi remarked “I had never dreamt of leading the state. I would like to thank Sonia Gandhi and others. We will make this Maharashtra once again that Maharashtra which Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj dreamt of. Together we will wipe off tears of farmers in the state”.

Earlier, state NCP president Jayant Patil moved a resolution proposing the name of Uddhav Thackeray as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. It was seconded by Congress legislature party leader Balasaheb Thorat. Sources disclosed that both Patil and Thorat are likely to be sworn-in as Deputy Chief Minister’s along with Uddhav Thackeray as the Chief Minister on Sunday, December 1.

Addressing the gathering of Maha Vikas Aghadi, an emotional Thackeray stated that the thought of late Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray at this time of achieving victory after having gone through the struggle. He said that those with whom he had friendship for the last 30 years did not trust him. But people had trust in me for the battle that I waged against them (BJP). Thackeray remarked that now he is realizing as to what he has gained and what he has lost in life so far.

Arguing that he was the man on the ground, the Sena president stated that battle ground was not new for him. Commenting upon the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, he said “our government is a family. Ordinary people should feel this is my government”. Commenting further he said “I shall meet my big brother (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) in New Delhi soon”.

Turning to his critics, Thackeray said that he would reply to all their queries. Lambasting the BJP further, he said, “the BJP had animosity towards the Sena. They (BJP) used the Sena when they needed”. Rubbishing attributes made to him that he was man confined to Mumbai, he argued that he was not a man confined to the four walls of his home.

Earlier, NCP president Sharad Pawar remarked that had late Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray been alive today, he would have been happy. Touching upon his ties with the Thackeray family, the NCP president stated that they criticized each other but never lost our personal rapport. There was always the warmth of love and affection between us, he added.

Senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal stated that party president should give his consent, they will bring back Ajit Pawar back to the party fold. Later, Pawar senior disclosed that three representatives from the Maha Vikas Aghadi will call on Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan to formally stake claim to form the next government and that the swearing-in of the new government will take place on December 1 at 5 pm at Shivaji Park, Dadar.
