In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in the early hours today in Chinigam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police ASP Mohammad Yousuf, a joint team of J&K Police, Army’s 01 Rashtriya Rifles and 18 BN CRPF launched a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Chinigam village following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter and two terrorists were gunned down.
The identity of the slain terrorists has been established. One of them is a Pakistani. One M4 Rifle and one pistol were recovered from their possession. Operation is now over.
