The conflict between Washington, Tel Aviv and Tehran entered a dramatic new phase after US President Donald Trump announced that Iran has approached his administration for possible negotiations. While confirming his willingness to engage in dialogue, Trump made it clear that military operations would continue alongside diplomatic efforts.

Speaking about the situation, Trump said Iran had indicated it wants discussions and that he had agreed to open communication channels. However, he criticized Tehran for delaying outreach, suggesting the current crisis might have been avoided if talks had begun earlier.

Massive Joint Military Operations

The latest escalation follows coordinated US and Israeli offensives reportedly codenamed Operation Epic Fury by Washington and Operation Roaring Lion by Israel. The strikes targeted senior leadership and strategic installations within Iran.

Among those reported killed was Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, a development that has reshaped the political landscape of the Islamic Republic. Trump described Khamenei in harsh terms and framed his death as a turning point for Iran’s future.

Despite opening the door to dialogue, Trump emphasized that targeted airstrikes would continue until what he described as lasting peace in the Middle East is secured.

US Military Casualties Confirmed

The human toll of the operations has now become public. United States Central Command confirmed that three American service members were killed during the recent engagements, while five others sustained serious injuries.

The casualties present a sensitive political challenge for the administration. Trump, along with Vice President JD Vance and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, has previously emphasized a commitment to avoiding prolonged foreign wars. The latest losses may intensify domestic debate over the scale and duration of US involvement.

Iran Expands Retaliatory Strikes

In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced what it described as a large-scale counteroffensive. Iranian officials claimed attacks on multiple US military facilities in the Gulf and on Israeli targets in Tel Aviv.

Reports also emerged of missile launches affecting areas in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait. An oil tanker was reportedly hit near the coast of Oman, raising concerns about maritime security in vital shipping lanes.

Iranian media claimed ballistic missiles targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. However, US Central Command rejected those claims, stating the vessel remains fully operational and that the missiles failed to reach their intended target.

In a separate development, US officials confirmed the sinking of an Iranian Jamaran-class naval corvette in the Gulf of Oman, marking a significant maritime loss for Tehran.

Divisions Inside Iran

As Israeli forces announced strikes targeting locations in central Tehran, internal tensions within Iran appeared increasingly visible. While state authorities declared a 40-day mourning period following Khamenei’s death, some reports suggested public gatherings in certain areas expressing opposition to the ruling establishment.

Security has been tightened across Tehran to prevent unrest, and authorities are closely monitoring demonstrations and public reaction.

Diplomacy Amid Uncertainty

Despite the intensifying conflict, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran remains open to diplomacy. However, missile exchanges between Iran and Israel continued, with the Israel Defense Forces confirming fresh launches and issuing emergency advisories to civilians.

With leadership transition discussions underway in Tehran and military exchanges still active, the situation remains highly volatile. Global leaders are watching closely as the possibility of negotiations exists alongside ongoing combat operations, creating a fragile and uncertain diplomatic window.
