Srinagar: On Monday, as part of the Border Security Force (BSF) Raising Day celebrations, a friendly football match was played between the teams of 57th Battalion of the Border Security Force at Handwara and Sultan Football Club, Machipora (Handwara) at the sports ground of 57 battalion of the Border Security Force at Handwara.
The Sultan Football Club Machipora won the friendly football match by a score line of 5-2.
On this occasion Surendra Mishra Commandant of the 57th-battalion felicitated both the teams with prizes and trophies, and encouraged them. Ajay Kumar Mishra 2IC/OPS, Officers, Subordinate Officers and a large number of other personnel were present on the occasion.
Such friendly matches promote mutual love and harmony between the general public and the security forces, remarked Surendra Mishra Commandant of the 57 battalion.
The Border Security Force (BSF) was established on December 1, 1965. It is a paramilitary force entrusted with the job of guarding India’s land borders during peacetime and preventing trans-national crime. The BSF comes under the administrative control of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Currently, it is the world’s largest border guarding force.
