Mumbai: Mumbai’s Corona might be coming in control even though Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s (MMR) crisis is increasing. When situation in MMR region and the city gets under control that time I will myself meet Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and urged him to take back the lockdown informed Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.
BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal was interviewed on the topic of “Mumbai’s Corona situation” by “One MD” website which deals in Medical field. Psychologist Dr. Harish Shetty and Indian College of Physicians (ICP) dean Dr. Shashank Joshi conducted the interview. The Commissioner gave information and instructions which are being executed by the BMC to handle the Corona crisis.
When asked when will the lockdown end he replied saying “Mumbai is a bigger city if lockdown is removed from here people from MMR region will come here in huge amounts.” Railway, Malls as well as crowds will increase in these several public places while there’s a possibility of increasing Corona patients in Mumbai’s nearby places.

“Therefore until MMR’s situation doesn’t get back to normal no risk shall be taken” cleared the Commissioner. Mumbai’s testing counts have increased back then daily there used to be average 4,000 testing’s now they’ve increased to more than 7,000 tests.
On Friday 24th of July in one day 7,600 tests took place in which only 1,000 patients found Corona positive. During the first few tests average 1,500 patients were being found. Now despite large amount of tests 1100 to 1200 patients are being found. Even in that 85 percent patients have no symptoms, informed the Commissioner.
Commissioner claimed saying “Death percentage toll of Corona has been reduced”. Mumbai’s different Corona hospitals and Corona medical centers totally 18,811 beds in which on Saturday 7,000 beds were vacant, informed Commissioner. Due to increased tests many patients are being found.
The situation is now under control, as months ago 15,000 beds were required now it has come down to 200 beds, informed Commissioner. If a person from MMR dies due to Corona it gets recorded in BMC area as these citizens come to Mumbai. Therefore Mumbai’s death toll looks huge.
Out of all the deaths from Mumbai 4,000 deaths are out of MMR. Sion hospitals 54% deaths are out of Mumbai, informed the Commissioner.-By Rishikesh Chavan
