Three Shiv Sena Candidates Elected Unopposed in Thane Civic Polls, Party Workers Celebrate

Thane: In Thane, Maharashtra, Shiv Sena workers marked a moment of celebration after three party candidates were elected unopposed to the Thane Municipal Corporation, in what is being seen as a limited but politically significant gain for the party in the civic body.

The development has drawn attention as unopposed wins are often viewed as indicators of local-level political influence and organisational strength. Party supporters gathered to celebrate the victories, calling them a sign of growing acceptance of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena among voters in select wards.

One of the unopposed winners, Sukhada Sanjay More, who secured victory from Ward No. 18, explained how the contest unfolded. “There was a candidate from another party and one from the Congress against me. Both of them backed out,” she said. According to More, the withdrawals reflected public sentiment in her area. She added, “The public is standing with Eknath Shinde.”
