Mumbai: Thousands of people, both tribal and non-tribal peasants, from Kalwan and Surgana tehsils of Nashik district, thronged the town of Kalwan on Wednesday in a massive rally and public meeting as Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) leader and ex-MLA, J P Gavit submitted his nomination papers for the Vidhan Sabha elections on November 20, from the from the Kalwan (ST) assembly seat.
The rally was full of red flags of the CPI(M) and of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) parties. As of today, Kalwan (ST) in Nashik district and Dahanu (ST) in Palghar district (currently our sitting MLA seat) are two state assembly seats left for the CPI(M) by the MVA. Talks are on for other seats.
Among the main leaders in the rally and public meeting were CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Dr Ashok Dhawale, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Sharad Pawar faction Lok Sabha MP from Dindori (ST) Bhaskar Bhagare, Indian National Congress (INC) district president and ex-MLA Shirish Kotwal, Shiv Sena (UBT) faction, rural district president Jayant Dinde, NCP-SP faction leader Ravindra Devre, INC leader Shailesh Pawar, CPI(M) state secretariat member Sunil Malusare, state committee members Subhash Choudhary, Bhika Rathod, Irfan Shaikh, Indrajit Gavit, and also Savliram Pawar and Nilesh Shinde.
