Srinagar: Indian Army in collaboration with District Administration Kupwara on Wednesday organized a ceremony to commemorate the sacrifice of Late Bashir Ahmad Lone, Rifle Man, J&K Light Infantry Battalion at Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS) Drugmulla.
Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan was chief guest on the occasion. Brigadier, Ashish Shandil; DDC Member Drugmulla, Amina Majeed; Principal BHSS Drugmulla, ZEO, BDO, besides, large number of students were present at the occasion.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner and Brigadier inaugurated the statute of late Bashir Ahmad Lone in the school premises in presence of Mother of the late Jawan, Saba Begum and his brother, Mohammad Shafi Lone. A one-minute silence was also observed in the honour of the late Jawan.
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner paid tribute to the late Rifle Man, Bashir Ahmad Lone and glorified his sacrifice and selfless service to the nation. She asked the students to take inspiration from the late Jawan and contribute towards the society. She also expressed her gratitude to the mother of the Soldier for the sacrifice given by her son while serving the nation.
Meanwhile, mother of the late Jawan and his brother were honoured by the officers on the stage. Later, the Deputy Commissioner and the Brigadier distributed stationery items among the students.
