The Women’s World XI—where boundaries blur and brilliance begins

The moment India won the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 trophy for the first time at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai went beyond sports. The Women in Blue didn’t just win a title, they changed the way people think about women’s cricket in India and around the world. The cheers of the crowd, the tears of pride, and the pure joy of winning marked the start of a new era.

Three of India’s brightest stars, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma, are now among the best in the world. The ICC has announced the Women’s World Cup 2025 ‘Team of the Tournament.’  The Dream Team is a celebration of skill, consistency, and bravery that goes beyond borders. Laura Wolvaardt from South Africa is the team’s elegant run machine.

Laura Wolvaardt: The Captain of the People

Laura Wolvaardt became the face of strength for South Africa. The world’s number one batter scored 571 runs at an average of 71.37, which is the most by any player in Women’s World Cup history. She led her team and the tournament. Her two centuries in a row in the semifinal and final were timeless works of art that showed grace and focus.

Even Indian fans chanted her name as she accepted her top scorer award because of how calm and humble she was as a leader. Few captains have handled themselves with such grace after losing, which is a sign of true greatness.

The Queen of Consistency and Class, Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana is only 29 years old, but she has already done what very few cricketers dream of. She is the world’s No. 1 batter in the ICC ODI rankings. Mandhana has been a key player in India’s top order since she made her debut in 2013 as a 16-year old prodigy. She has been the heart and soul of India’s batting evolution for more than ten years.

She scored 434 runs in the 2025 World Cup, with an average of 54.25. One of her best games was against New Zealand, where she scored a beautiful century that showed off her perfect mix of grace and grit. Mandhana has been India’s rock in times of trouble because she is calm and drives well. She is one of the most complete batters in the modern game because she can play both spin and pace and adjust to different situations.

Mandhana’s 135 runs off 129 balls against South Africa in 2018 is still her best ODI score. It was a masterclass in controlled aggression that showed she was India’s most elegant run-maker. She is still the face of Indian women’s cricket, with over 4,500 ODI runs and six centuries. She is graceful in her technique, grounded in her spirit, and never gives up on excellence.

Jemimah Rodrigues: India’s calm game changer

At 24, Jemimah Rodrigues is now the most important player in India’s middle order. She was one of the top 10 ODI batters in the world. In the 2025 semifinal against Australia, she played the best innings of her career, scoring 127 not out and leading India to the final with a level of calmness that was far beyond her years.

Jemimah has been known for being smart about the game and able to handle pressure since she made her debut in 2018. Her touch, timing, and temperament make her an essential part of India’s batting unit. She is a player who turns tense situations into victories.

Deepti Sharma: The Girl Who Built India’s Bowling

When Mandhana gives beauty, Deepti Sharma gives balance. The 27 year old all around player has been India’s main bowler for almost ten years. She made her debut as a teenager in 2014 and showed wonderful control and calmness. She was unstoppable in the 2025 World Cup, taking 22 wickets, the most in the tournament. In the final against South Africa, she took 5 for 39, her best performance ever.

That spell not only stopped South Africa’s flow, but it also made India’s historic win certain. She is one of the best spinners in the world because she can read batters, throw accurately, and fly. Deepti, a left hand batter who bowls right arm offspin,  is one of the top three all rounders in the ICC ODI standings and has always done well in all formats. 

Her personal best batting performance, a commanding 188 against Ireland in 2017, is still one of the highest individual scores in women’s ODIs. This shows how flexible she is. Deepti has become the glue that holds India’s team together across all departments. She has taken 162 ODI wickets and scored more than 2739 runs. She is reliable, disciplined, and decisive.

Kapp and de Klerk: The South African Army

With Marizanne Kapp and Nadine de Klerk both playing well, South Africa’s all around core was still strong. Kapp, one of the best all rounders in the world, took 12 wickets and scored two half centuries, including a devastating 5 for 20 in the semifinal against England. This made her the all time leading wicket taker in Women’s World Cup history. She is just behind Julina Goswami of India and Shabnim Ismail of South Africa, the most prolific wicket taker ever in women’s ODI cricket. 

De Klerk brought balance and faith. Her 84 not out off 54 balls against India was one of the best innings of the tournament, and her nine wickets showed how valuable she was as a player.

Australia’s All Around Arsenal

Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana King from Australia kept their country’s tradition of being the best.

Gardnerscored two centuries and took seven wickets, solidifying her status as one of the best all rounders in the world. Sutherland had 17 wickets, which was the second most after Deepti Sharma. She also played an unbeaten 98, which showed how talented she was. King’s 7 for 18 against South Africa set a new record for the best bowling figures in Women’s World Cup history, proving once again how outstanding she is.

The Pride of England and Pakistan

Sophie Ecclestone of England, the world’s best bowler, took 16 wickets at 14.25, including two four wicket hauls. Captain Nat Sciver Brunt scored 262 runs and took 9 wickets, earning the 12th player spot.

Pakistan’s wicketkeeper Sidra Nawaz brought energy and sharpness to the game behind the stumps, making seven dismissals and doing some of the best glovework of the tournament.

This Dream Team isn’t just a list of the best players. It’s a mix of the best players, showing what global women’s cricket is all about. It honors people who changed the meaning of professionalism, passion, and hard work.

It means the start of a new golden generation for India. Smriti Mandhana, a decade long symbol of batting grace, Jemimah Rodrigues, the young architect of India’s future, and Deepti Sharma, the quiet warrior who balances skill with steel together, they have changed how the world sees Indian cricket.

The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 was more than just a tournament, it was a turning point. It showed women who play not just to win, but to leave a mark. It showed the world that women’s cricket is just as excellent as any other sport when it comes to bravery, skill, and ambition.
