Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday made a strong development-oriented appeal while addressing voters ahead of the Jalna Municipal Corporation elections, underlining the state government’s focus on women empowerment and urban growth.
Speaking about flagship welfare initiatives, Fadnavis said, “The government has now pledged to make the ‘Ladli Bahna yojna’ of the state ‘Lakhpati Didis.’” He emphasised that the scheme is no longer limited to financial assistance but is aimed at transforming women into self-reliant income earners through sustained support and opportunities.
Turning to civic governance, the Chief Minister made it clear that political power would not be treated as a formality. “We are not putting up the flag on the Jalna Municipal Corporation to simply occupy the seats, but to work for the all-round development of the city,” he said, outlining a vision focused on infrastructure, civic services, and long-term urban planning.
Fadnavis concluded his address with a direct appeal to voters, seeking a clear mandate. “Support us on January 15, and we will take full responsibility for you for the next 5 years,” he asserted, positioning the upcoming municipal elections as a choice between symbolic politics and accountable governance.
