Patna: RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial candidate, Tejashwi Yadav, on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing it of losing its moral authority amid the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, Yadav questioned the ECI’s impartiality, alleging that government funds were being disbursed to influence voters even during the election period.

“Where has the Election Commission’s morality gone? Even in the midst of ongoing elections, even today, money is being given to 10 lakh women. Money was also given on the 24th October. The Election Commission’s morality has been compromised,” Yadav said.

The RJD leader’s remarks came in response to reports of continued direct benefit transfers to women under state government schemes during the Model Code of Conduct, which is in effect throughout the election process.
