“They Are All Bangladeshi Muslims”: Suvendu Adhikari Sparks Row Amid Tense Scene at Kolkata Poll Booth

Voting for the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections continued across 142 constituencies in seven districts under heavy security deployment on Wednesday.

Tension briefly flared at a polling booth in Kolkata when BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari visited the location to inspect the voting arrangements. During his visit, a group of TMC supporters gathered near the booth and raised slogans, creating a charged atmosphere.

Security Personnel Step In to Control the Situation

As the crowd surrounded Adhikari, CRPF personnel and local police quickly intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Officials carried out a mild lathicharge to disperse the crowd and restore order at the polling station. According to election officials, the situation was brought under control within minutes and voting resumed without any disruption.

Adhikari’s ‘Bangladeshi Muslims’ Remark Sparks Political Controversy

Following the incident, Suvendu Adhikari released a video statement in which he said, “They are all Bangladeshi Muslims… They are scared. Mamata will be wiped out.”

The controversial remark is expected to trigger strong political reactions as the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress remain locked in a fierce contest in the state.
