New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India on Thursday emphasized that the ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) must be taken into account while considering legal matters related to the region. The bench highlighted that incidents like the Pahalgam tragedy cannot be overlooked.
A two-judge bench, comprising Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran, made these observations while hearing a plea concerning the restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir.
The court underscored the importance of factoring in the realities on the ground before arriving at any decision on administrative or constitutional issues concerning the region.
