“Stop Divisive Politics,” Says CM Mohan Yadav as Rahul Gandhi Meets Indore Water Tragedy Victims

Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday launched a sharp political attack ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Indore, accusing Congress leaders of promoting divisive rhetoric and demanding action from the party’s top leadership.

Reacting to recent statements made by Congress MLA Phool Singh Baraiya, the Chief Minister said, “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is coming, and Phool Singh Baraiya has been spreading poison in society with his divisive statements, inciting social hatred. I hope that Rahul Gandhi will come and expel his MLA from the party. This would show that he has some respect for other sections of society as well. I condemn his statement…”

Yadav’s remarks came as Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, met families affected by the contaminated water tragedy in Indore’s Bhagirathpura area, where several lives were lost and hundreds fell ill due to polluted drinking water.

During Gandhi’s visit, Manish Pawar, whose mother died after consuming contaminated water, said the Congress leader focused on providing emotional and financial support to the victims. “He had come to help the victims, to offer them reassurance and comfort… He provided a cheque for Rs 1 lakh as financial assistance. Twenty families were present. He said he would make an effort to get clean water and other facilities provided to us…” Pawar told reporters.

According to families present at the meeting, Rahul Gandhi listened to their grievances, assured them of continued support, and raised concerns over civic accountability and access to safe drinking water. The visit has intensified political debate in the state, with the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress trading sharp accusations over responsibility for the tragedy.
