On Wednesday, SpiceJet revealed that they had received bomb-threat messages regarding two of their flights through their official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The airline promptly informed the concerned authorities and followed all necessary safety protocols.
A spokesperson for SpiceJet confirmed that immediate action was taken, stating, “On October 16, 2024, SpiceJet’s X handle received a direct message indicating a bomb threat concerning two flights. The concerned authorities were immediately informed, and the laid-down safety protocols were followed.”
As a precautionary measure, passengers on both affected aircraft were disembarked. After a thorough investigation and clearance from the relevant authorities, the planes were declared safe and cleared for further operations.
This incident follows a series of similar threats, with approximately 13 Indian flights, including some international services, receiving bomb threats in the past two days. However, no suspicious items have been found in any of the planes involved.
SpiceJet emphasized that safety is their top priority, ensuring that all necessary steps were taken to guarantee the well-being of passengers. The airline continues to coordinate closely with security agencies to address any potential risks.
Authorities are investigating the sources of these threats as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of air travel in the country.
