In honor of “World Tourism Day,” the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA), in collaboration with the Tourism Department, Police, Forest Department, Education Department, and various stakeholders in the tourism sector, including hoteliers, Beopar Mandal, and tour operators, came together to celebrate the occasion under the theme “Tourism and Green Investments.”
During the event, the CEO of SDA, the Tourist Officer of Sonamarg, representatives from different stakeholder groups, and students from Govt. Middle School Sonamarg shared their insights on sustainable tourism practices and the importance of eco-friendly initiatives. The overarching message emphasized the significance of maintaining cleanliness in tourist areas and promoting responsible tourism.
In addition to discussions, a painting competition was organized for the students in the picturesque surroundings of the Golden Meadow, further highlighting the theme of environmental consciousness.
On the sidelines of the celebration, stakeholders engaged in discussions addressing various issues and preparations for the upcoming winter season. Their commitment to actively participate in every initiative by the tourism department for the promotion of Sonamarg was evident.
As part of the day’s activities, a sanitation drive was conducted in the Thajwas area and along the banks of the river Sind, reinforcing the commitment to preserving the natural beauty of Sonamarg and ensuring a welcoming environment for tourists.
