Nuh: In a horrifying incident early Saturday morning, six sanitation workers were killed and five others critically injured after a speeding pickup van mowed them down during routine cleaning on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Ibrahim Bas village in Firozpur Jhirka, Nuh district, Haryana.

The tragedy unfolded around 10 a.m., police said, as the workers were carrying out scheduled maintenance along the high-speed corridor. The pickup van’s driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled immediately after the collision.

Describing the crash as “extremely violent,” Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ajaib Singh stated, “Police teams have been working to collect the remains and investigate the incident further.” He confirmed that six women lost their lives and that the five injured included one man, all of whom were rushed to Mandi Khera Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Preliminary reports suggest that five of the deceased workers were from Kheri Kalan village, and one hailed from Jhimrawat village, although officials said formal identification of the victims was still underway.

Aman Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Ferozepur Jhirka police station, said, “We are examining CCTV footage and gathering all possible evidence to determine the exact sequence of events. All angles are being thoroughly probed.”
