As the Lok Sabha Election 2024 approaches, political fervor intensifies in Maharashtra with the impending release of candidate lists from major parties. Amidst debates over potential candidates and strategic maneuvers, both Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s NCP are gearing up for the electoral battle.
Originally slated for announcement today, Uddhav Thackeray’s first list of Shiv Sena candidates faces delays as discussions continue, particularly concerning candidates from Sangli, Bhiwandi, and South Central Mumbai. However, an important revelation from the Sharad Pawar-led NCP has emerged, with the announcement of their first list scheduled for March 28, coinciding with Sankashti Chaturthi on Thursday.
Jayant Patil, the state president of NCP, disclosed that the party would contest on ten seats, including prominent constituencies like Baramati, Madha, Shirur, Satara, Beed, Wardha, Raver, Ahmednagar, and Bhiwandi. The looming deadline for filing candidature for the first phase adds urgency to the candidate selection process, with the Mahavikas Aghadi’s candidate list yet to be finalized.
Media Reports indicate that both the NCP and Shiv Sena are poised to announce their candidate lists at a joint press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday at 3 pm, sparking anticipation over the nominations. The unresolved issues in constituencies like Sangli, Bhiwandi, and South Central Mumbai add intrigue to the impending announcements, leaving stakeholders eager for resolution.
Further collaboration between Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar is expected, with plans for another meeting tomorrow afternoon followed by a joint press conference. The discussions will likely revolve around finalizing candidate names and solidifying strategies ahead of the elections.
While Shiv Sena’s potential candidates have been speculated upon, including familiar names like Arvind Sawant for South Mumbai, Anil Desai for South Central Mumbai, Sanjay Patil for North East Mumbai, Amol Kirtikar for North West Mumbai, and Rajan Vichare for Thane, the final list remains awaited. Similarly, the NCP’s candidate list is anticipated to feature notable figures across various constituencies, reflecting the party’s regional strength and political acumen.
