Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, Sanjay Raut, launched scathing allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming their involvement in a major scandal surrounding electoral bonds purchased by gaming and gambling companies.
Raut labeled the BJP’s alleged actions as “the biggest scam in the country,” asserting that gaming and gambling corporations procure electoral bonds, which are then channeled directly into the ruling party’s bank accounts. He cited Megha Engineering as an example, claiming the company secures contracts and, in return, purchases electoral bonds worth lakhs of rupees, funneling the funds into the BJP’s accounts. Raut pointed out that this practice extends to numerous companies, implicating a wide network in the purported scam.
RJD MP, Manoj Jha, echoed concerns over the issue, suggesting a correlation between recent raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on companies and their subsequent acquisition of electoral bonds. He urged scrutiny of this connection, implying potential illicit activities.
Rajya Sabha MP, Kapil Sibal, expressed dismay over the lack of investigation into the electoral bonds issue by probe agencies. He criticized the apparent inaction of the ED and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), accusing them of being dormant. Sibal questioned the fulfillment of promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to previous pledges to curb corruption and retrieve black money. He emphasized the need for judicial intervention to address the matter effectively.
The accusations leveled by Raut, supported by insights from other political figures, underscore the escalating tensions surrounding electoral financing practices and the urgent need for transparent and accountable electoral processes.
