Shiv Sena Intensifies Protest Against BJP MLA Narendra Mehta, Demands Criminal Case and Externment

Political Clash Deepens Between BJP and Shiv Sena in Mira-Bhayandar

Political tensions between the BJP and the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) escalated sharply in Mira-Bhayandar after Shiv Sena leaders demanded the externment of BJP MLA Narendra Mehta and sought the registration of a criminal case against him.

The demand came a day after BJP MLA Narendra Mehta and party workers staged a protest at Navghar Police Station, demanding action against Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik over certain social media posts. What began as a BJP protest soon turned into a political showdown, with the Shiv Sena responding aggressively by organizing a six-hour sit-in at the same police station.

The developments have created fresh friction between the two ruling allies in Maharashtra, raising questions about coordination within the alliance at the local level.

Shiv Sena Holds Counter-Protest at Police Station

On Saturday, workers of the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) gathered in large numbers at Navghar Police Station and staged a lengthy protest against BJP MLA Narendra Mehta.

During the protest, Shiv Sena leaders submitted a formal written complaint demanding that Mehta be booked under criminal charges. They accused him of intimidating police officials, using abusive language inside the police station, and creating an atmosphere of fear in the locality.

According to the protesting leaders, Mehta’s conduct amounted to an abuse of political power and a direct attempt to interfere with the functioning of law enforcement authorities.

Allegations Against Narendra Mehta Intensify

The latest confrontation is linked to a controversial video allegedly showing MLA Narendra Mehta in a semi-nude condition, along with offensive posts circulating on social media.

According to the Shiv Sena faction, Mehta reacted strongly to the circulation of the content and, during Friday’s protest, allegedly threatened senior police officers and obstructed government officials from performing their duties.

The protesters claimed that such behaviour inside a police station reflects misuse of authority and sets a dangerous example for public conduct.

Shiv Sena Questions Delay in Action Against BJP MLA

One of the strongest allegations made by the Shiv Sena protesters was that Narendra Mehta has not faced strict action despite multiple criminal cases reportedly being registered against him.

Shiv Sena workers claimed that 25 to 26 criminal cases are already pending against the BJP MLA, and questioned why he has not yet been externed.

During the protest, party members said, “If common citizens are externed immediately for fewer offenses, why is there a different criteria for Mehta?”

The statement reflects the Sena faction’s accusation that political influence may be preventing legal action.

“If MLA Can Threaten Police, Imagine Public Fear”

Shiv Sena workers further alleged that Mehta’s behaviour demonstrates a complete disregard for law enforcement and the state administration.

During the agitation, members of the Shinde faction said, “If a legislator can threaten senior officers inside a police station, one can only imagine the level of terror he creates among common citizens.”

The party also argued that such actions indicate a lack of faith in the Home Department and indirectly undermine the authority of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

These statements have added a sharper political edge to the controversy, making it more than just a local dispute.

Police Assure Inquiry as Security Tightened

Following the complaints, police officials assured the protesters that the allegations against Narendra Mehta would be examined and appropriate action would be taken based on the findings.

Authorities also confirmed that an NCR (Non-Cognizable Report) has already been registered against a BJP office-bearer for allegedly using derogatory language against Minister Pratap Sarnaik.

To prevent the situation from escalating further, additional police personnel have been deployed at Navghar Police Station to maintain law and order and avoid clashes between BJP and Shiv Sena workers.

The political row is now being closely watched as both parties harden their positions, turning the issue into a major flashpoint in local Maharashtra politics.
