Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad convenes mega public durbar at Handwara, assesses public grievances

The people on the occasion expressed their gratitude to the district administration for organizing a mega public durbar at Handwara and said that such public outreach programs provide them an opportunity to voice their grievances and developmental issues to expedite the resolution through the appropriate channels.

Srinagar: Administrative secretary, Floriculture, Parks and Gardens Department (J&K ) Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad on Friday presided over a mega public durbar here at Town Hall Handwara under the ambitious public outreach-cum-grievances redressal programme of the government.

Member DDC Mawar, Member DDC Nutnussa, president of the Traders Federation of Handwara and a large number of people put forth issues of public importance before the Administrative secretary.

ADC Kupwara, Mohammad Rouf Rehman, ACD Kupwara, ACP Kupwara and other senior officers of civil and police administration attended the mega public out- reach program.

The public durbar witnessed overwhelming response from the public during which people from various areas of Handwara participated. The participating delegations and general public on the occasion projected several demands and grievances pertaining to their respective regions, encompassing both developmental and administrative concerns that need immediate attention of the government.

Some of the major development demands included construction of public park near Degree College Handwara, for which 32 kanals of land already stands identified; construction of lavatory block near children’s Park at Handwara, recreational park at Bagatpora on Bungas road, for which 200 kanals of land is available; making of slaughter house operational, Tribal Sub Plan for tribal villages, development of Saranwali Moanbal as tourist spot, release of second and third instalments of PMAY(G) and wages under MGNREGA etc.

While highlighting the importance of the public durbar, administrative secretary, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad said that such public durbars act as a bridge between the administration and the people where highest level government functionaries connect with people on rotation basis.

Sheikh Fayaz assured all individuals and delegations that genuine demands projected by them have been noted and would be redressed on priority. He impressed upon the concerned officer to adopt a proactive and people friendly approach in delivery of public services.

DDC Member Mawar, Khurshid Ahmad Dar, DDC Member Nutnussa, Adv. Zahoor Ahmad and President Traders Federation Handwara, Aijaz Ahmad Sofi while highlighting issues of diverse nature faced by the public, expressed their gratitude to the UT govt for organizing a public durbar in Handwara.

Earlier, ADC Kupwara , Muhammad Rouf Rehman while welcoming the chief guest presented a developmental scenario of the Kupwara district. He urged the people to make the event fruitful, constructive, enabling administration to redress grievances and attend to other developmental issues on merit for the benefit of common people.

Three development projects, completed by the concerned executing agencies, were also e-inaugurated on the occasion by the administrative secretary. These included construction of entry gate for Smart Village Shehlal ( executed by RDD under ADF), construction of road by way of macadamisation and beautification at ACD office Kupwara and construction of washrooms at Government High School, Payerpora.

At the outset, the administrative secretary also participated in a plantation drive.
