In a seismic political development, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, along with his son Nakul Nath, is reportedly poised to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Media reports indicate that the father-son duo is currently in Delhi, with their anticipated defection dealt as a major blow to the Congress party.

The speculated move comes amidst swirling rumors of dissatisfaction within the Congress ranks, with a faction of 10 MLAs also rumored to be crossing over to the BJP alongside Kamal Nath and Nakul Nath. If realized, this mass exodus could significantly alter the political landscape of Madhya Pradesh.

BJP’s Madhya Pradesh state unit president, V D Sharma, has extended a warm welcome to Kamal Nath and other potential defectors. Sharma underscored the BJP’s openness to leaders who share the party’s vision and expressed empathy towards those disenchanted by the Congress’s alleged disrespect towards Lord Ram. He emphasized that individuals harboring grievances against the Congress’s actions during the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony are embraced by the BJP with open arms.

While Congress leaders have dismissed rumors of Kamal Nath’s impending defection as mere speculation orchestrated by the BJP, the party has witnessed a series of defections in recent months. Jabalpur Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh ‘Annu’ is among those who have already made the switch to the BJP.

In response to inquiries about the rumors, Kamal Nath remained enigmatic, acknowledging the proliferation of speculations but refraining from offering definitive statements.

As political tensions escalate and anticipation mounts, all eyes are on the unfolding developments, poised to reshape the political dynamics of Madhya Pradesh in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
