Sharing success of Lipa Valley Ops during 1971 war at Mawar Valley

Srinagar: On the eve of 50 years of celebration of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, the success of the operations in Lipa valley during 1971 India-Pakistan war was celebrated by the Naugam Brigade with the youth and local population of Mawar valley.

The local population attended the screening of a short movie on 1971 war in Lipa and gained knowledge about challenges faced by Indian Army and also the support rendered by the local people who rendered services as porters during the operation and in winning the historical operations of 1971 in this area.

A patrol of the Indian Army took initiative and explained to the locals about the war-like situation and educated them about the harsh realities at the time of war. The patrol further met the porters who took part in the 1971 war in Lipa and interacted with them along with the youth, wherein their experience during the 1971 operations were shared in a very courageous and enthusiastic manner.

The 1971 India-Pakistan war also known as the Bangladesh Liberation war began on December 3, 1971 and ended with the surrender of Pakistan at Dhaka on December 16, 1971.
