In a significant move, the Indian government has officially banned former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi, just two days after prohibiting several Pakistani channels from operating in the country. The 47-year-old has faced intense scrutiny for his controversial remarks against the Indian Army following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists.

Afridi, who played over 500 international matches for Pakistan, has repeatedly accused the Indian Army of failing to act swiftly enough in the aftermath of the attack. He also demanded proof from the Indian media regarding the allegations that Pakistan’s militant groups were behind the assault.

The Indian government’s ban extends to several other Pakistani figures, including former cricketers Shoaib Akhtar, Rashid Latif, and Basit Ali, as well as content creators like Wasay Habib, Rizwan Haider, Aap Ka Mohsin Ali, Muneeb Farooq, and Uzair Cricket. Sports channels BBN Sports and Samaa Sports were also added to the list.

In response to Afridi’s statements, former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan hit back, suggesting that Afridi should focus on the progress of his own country rather than making baseless accusations against the Indian Army. Afridi, known for his fiery responses, retaliated with a tweet: “Chouro jeet haar ko, aao tumhey chae pilata hun Shikhar” (Leave win-loss. Let me give you tea, Shikhar).
