Mumbai witnessed a horrific tragedy on Monday night when a BEST bus lost control in Kurla West, leading to the deaths of seven people and injuries to 42 others. The accident unfolded along SG Barve Marg as the bus, en route to Andheri, plowed through pedestrians and vehicles, causing widespread chaos and devastation.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the bus wreaked havoc over a stretch of 100 meters, colliding with 30-40 vehicles before finally crashing into the RCC column of the Solomon Building, breaking its compound wall.
Providing initial insights, the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) stated, “As per the initial information, the driver lost control of the bus.” Officials added that the bus’s speed accelerated uncontrollably during the incident, causing extensive damage to vehicles and injuring numerous people along its path.
