A man allegedly attempted to self-immolate outside the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai on Wednesday, triggering panic in the high-security area where the state legislature session is currently underway.
Authorities have not yet revealed the identity of the man or the motive behind the attempted act.
Incident Occurs During Budget Session
The shocking incident took place while the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is holding the Budget Session 2026 at the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan.
The area around the legislative building remains heavily guarded due to the presence of ministers, lawmakers and senior officials attending the session.
