Bangalore: Karnataka’s political landscape saw fresh ripples on Tuesday as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar held another breakfast meeting—this time at Shivakumar’s Bengaluru residence. The interaction marks their second meeting within just four days, at a time when whispers of an internal power shift continue to simmer within the ruling Congress.
The meeting came hours after Shivakumar publicly projected unity, writing on X, “Me and the CM continue to work together as a team. I have invited the Hon’ble CM for breakfast tomorrow to discuss and strengthen our collective efforts to deliver on our promises to Karnataka.”
Just days earlier, both leaders met at Siddaramaiah’s residence, a discussion Shivakumar described as “productive” and focused on “Karnataka’s priorities and the road ahead.”
The renewed meetings stem from ongoing friction surrounding an alleged “power-sharing agreement” within the Congress following its 2023 victory. Supporters of Shivakumar argue he was promised the Chief Minister’s chair for the latter half of the government’s five-year tenure. Over recent weeks, several of his backers have publicly demanded his elevation, pushing the party leadership into damage-control mode.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has seized on the internal churn, alleging that governance in the state has suffered due to the tussle between the two top Congress leaders. Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra sharpened the attack, telling PTI, “The competition for the chief minister’s chair is intensifying day by day. According to information I have, at least seven to eight senior legislators and ministers in the ruling party are competing to somehow become the CM.”
He added that while the mandate was clearly in Congress’s favour, the BJP would continue to function as a strong opposition. “The voters of the state have given a clear mandate to the Congress and have made the BJP sit in the opposition. The BJP will function as an effective opposition and has no intentions to form the government,” Vijayendra said.

Mamdami: His election signals trust in a younger, more ideological style of leadership.

Heard about 98tpbet from a mate. Signed up, threw a few bucks in. Interface is a bit basic, but it works. They seem to have a focus on mention a specific offering, e.g., sports betting, and the odds aren’t terrible. Worth a shot if you’re looking for something new. Wish they had an app though! 98tpbet
