Patna: The much-anticipated seat-sharing formula for the INDIA bloc in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections has reportedly been finalised, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) emerging as the dominant force in the alliance. Sources suggest that the Mahagathbandhan may hold a joint press conference in Patna today to make the official announcement.

According to India TV insiders, the proposed distribution gives the RJD 125 seats, positioning it as the senior partner within the coalition. The Congress, after rounds of tense negotiations, is likely to contest around 55 to 57 seats — fewer than its initial demand of 78. Reports indicate that the Congress has agreed to forgo all seats in the Patna district as part of the compromise.

Other allies are also expected to feature in the final arrangement: the Left parties may get 35 seats, Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) 20, Pashupati Paras’s faction three, and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) two.

However, insiders reveal that minor disagreements persist between the Congress and the RJD, primarily over constituencies with overlapping influence. While RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is said to have offered only 48 seats to Congress during earlier talks, a middle ground of 55 seats now appears imminent.
