Karachi:In a significant development, Saudi Arabia has deported 232 Pakistani nationals, including nine professional beggars, as part of a large-scale operation to expel individuals violating residency and work rules. This comes as part of a broader trend where seven countries, including Saudi Arabia, China, and the UAE, have deported a total of 258 Pakistanis in recent times.

Among those deported from Saudi Arabia, 16 individuals were arrested upon their arrival at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport due to various legal infractions. According to immigration authorities, 244 of the deportees were returned using emergency travel documents, while 14 had valid Pakistani passports. Many of the deportees had overstayed their visas, while others were found working without proper sponsorship.

The list of deportees includes 27 individuals who had been working without sponsors, and 112 who were expelled following complaints against them. Among the deportees were also two individuals who had been caught attempting to perform Hajj without permits and were returned after serving their sentences. A significant number of the deportees were also reported to have been working without official authorization or indulging in illegal activities, including drug-related offenses.

The UAE also contributed to the deportation figures, sending back 21 Pakistanis, with four facing serious charges of drug smuggling. Other countries such as China, Indonesia, Cyprus, Nigeria, and Qatar each deported one Pakistani national.

At Karachi Airport, authorities have been busy monitoring the situation, with a recent report indicating that 35 passengers were offloaded from international flights attempting to travel abroad. Among these, 18 passengers had Umrah visas but failed to present advance hotel bookings, which led to their removal from the flights.

The immigration spokesperson stated, “We arrested 16 deportees at the Karachi airport, including one with a suspicious identity. The others were released after questioning.” The authorities have promised continued vigilance to prevent illegal departures and maintain order.
