In the aftermath of the controversial encounter of accused Akshay Shinde, prominent political figure Sanjay Raut has raised significant questions regarding the legitimacy of law enforcement actions and the circumstances surrounding the protests in Badlapur. Speaking out against the swift legal actions taken against the protesters, Raut stated, “All the protesters in Badlapur were booked the next day for taking the law into their hands. They were merely demanding that the accused should be punished, not acting outside the law.”

Raut elaborated on the complexity of the situation, suggesting that there appears to be a “big circle” involving both the police and the organizations behind the encounter. He criticized the police response, highlighting that while one accused was arrested, homes of the protesters were unlawfully invaded. “A case has been filed against them,” he noted, expressing concern over the erosion of citizens’ rights to protest.

Delving deeper into the specifics of the encounter, Raut drew attention to inconsistencies in the narrative presented by law enforcement. He remarked, “The public knows whether the encounter is true or false. The protesters against whom the cases were filed should withdraw first.” Raut specifically pointed out the suspicious circumstances under which the alleged encounter took place, questioning how a 24-year-old could successfully disarm a police officer and open fire. “When did the cleaning boy start firing bullets? Did they train him to shoot while in prison?” he asked, casting doubt on the credibility of the police’s account.

Raut’s remarks extended to broader implications for the government, suggesting that public anger is simmering due to perceived injustices in the handling of the case. “The atmosphere created by the Jarange Patils in Maharashtra today has set fire to the chair of the government. Was this done to distract from it?” he inquired, hinting at deeper political machinations at play.

He also criticized the lack of accountability regarding the disappearance of CCTV footage, which could provide critical evidence regarding the events leading to the encounter. “The director is absconding. Crimes under POSCO were registered against Apte, Kotwal, Athawale. Why was the crime filed?” he demanded, underscoring the need for transparency and justice.

Raut concluded by alleging that the slain accused had made shocking revelations that could implicate higher authorities, suggesting that these revelations were suppressed to avoid public scrutiny. “As far as I know, the slain accused has made some gruesome revelations in his statement. So that it should not come to light, they ended it all from scratch,” he claimed.

As the situation continues to develop, the demand for accountability in both the police actions and the government’s response grows louder, highlighting the critical intersection of law, justice, and public trust in Maharashtra.
