Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday called for special security for stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, after three more complaints were filed against him over his alleged remarks on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Drawing a comparison to the security provided to BJP MP Kangana Ranaut during her dispute with the Shiv Sena, Raut stated, “I also demand that the Maharashtra Govt should provide special protection to Kunal Kamra. Kangana Ranaut was also provided special force for her security when she had a rift with us.”
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police confirmed that three fresh complaints have been lodged against Kamra—one by the Mayor of Jalgaon city, and the other two by a Nashik-based hotelier and a businessman.
On March 27, Mumbai Police summoned Kamra for questioning at Khar police station on March 31. This is the third summons issued to him in connection with the case filed by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel. Kamra has failed to appear before the police in response to the previous two summons.
